As much as I love the amenities of the space the design is one of my favorite parts of visiting a Centurion Lounge. Everywhere you look the interior design is on-brand, interesting, and visually distinctive. Past the dining area there’s yet another seating area, complete with a conference table next to the business center. There were again a wide variety of seating options available with power outlets alongside the windows so people could eat and charge their devices. (The bar was closed because, well, it was 5:40am) The seating areas are nice and there are a wide variety, which should suit solo travelers as well as families.Įventually you’ll arrive at the dining/bar area, which is much larger than the original club. If you turn left when you enter the Lounge you’ll walk down a long and narrow hallway with myriad seating options (I could see this becoming a congestion point with people having luggage strewn about). I thought that the inclusion of some larger chaise lounge seats in this seating area was a nice touch, although with increasingly strict restrictions on when someone can enter the Lounge I’m not sure if anyone would ever have time to use them. The showers are located in this direction too (you need to speak with the reception desk to arrange for a shower). To the left will be the dining area and bar, to the right is quite a bit of seating as well as a coffee station. When you walk in you’ll immediately have to make a choice, left or right. There’s a quick elevator ride up to the lounge, where you’re greeted by familiar wooden finishes as well as the living wall that’s common for all Centurion Lounges (with an updated mural-esque installation just behind the reception desk. Go through security, turn left, and you’ll see a big blue wall with an illuminated entryway beckoning you to enter. It’s on the mezzanine level of the airport basically right above the D15 security checkpoint. The new Centurion Lounge is located in terminal D at DFW, not far from the old one. (I seriously didn’t have very much time to visit the lounge so I apologize if the pictures aren’t up to my usual standard) Lounge Location I had the chance to visit the lounge yesterday and thought I’d give you a quick look. Mercifully American Express decided to just build a new lounge for DFW, which opened recently. The DFW club, even though it had loads of seating and 12000 square feet of space, was particularly susceptible to overcrowding during the trans-Atlantic departure windows in the afternoons and the middle eastern flights in the mornings. They were a bit too popular, though, and, as should’ve been expected if we’re completely honest, overcrowding became an issue. They represent a unique value proposition for holders of the Amex Platinum and Centurion cards and were an immediate hit when they began popping up a few years ago. What started out as an innocent little haven at DFW has grown to nine lounges across the world (for current list of all the Centurion Lounges you can visit the American Express landing page for the lounge network here). American Express has really knocked it out of the park with their Centurion Lounge network. Later, you can change any of the configurations you chose in the wizard by returning to the Speech Recognition pane in Control Panel and clicking the “Advanced speech options” link on the left. As part of the setup wizard, you can take a tutorial showing how to dictate text and issue commands to your computer with speech. A setup wizard will run the first time WSR is invoked, making sure your microphone works and asking configuration questions such as whether you want WSR to learn your commonly used words and phrases by reviewing your documents and emails, whether you want to turn on the microphone with your voice (not just turn it off), and whether you want WSR to launch when you start up your computer. To launch the WSR software, click Start Speech Recognition. You’ll see this screen: Lamont Wood / IDG In Windows 7, click the Start button, then Control Panel, then Ease of Access, and then Speech Recognition. In Windows 10, type “speech” into the search box next to the Start button, and among the results select the Speech Recognition option (not, initially, the Speech Recognition desktop app).To get started with WSR, first make sure your headset mic is plugged in. I’ll note where they differ and give instructions for Windows 7 and Windows 10, the most widely used platforms. The steps that follow are basically the same whether you use Windows 7, Windows 8.x or Windows 10. You don’t have to yell, so if those around you are comfortable with you talking on the phone, you will fit in using WSR. Office chatter, on the other hand, is rarely a problem. But first, a word about your environment: You’ll want to get away from droning ventilator noises. In this story, I’ll show you how to use the WSR software to best effect. That will help your enunciation and make you less likely to skip one-syllable words or stumble into disfluencies like “ah, y’know.” As always, taking your time up front is faster than having to catch errors later. Envision the text you want to produce as you speak the words. Speak archly, as if you were a miffed radio announcer. That, with constant attention to enunciation, should produce input speed and accuracy superior to your typing.Ĭareful, consistent enunciation is key. Laptop and desktop mikes will not produce worthwhile results you need a head-mounted unit with a microphone that can be positioned a consistent distance from your mouth. While WSR is part of your operating system, the necessary microphone is not built into your PC. Since Dictation is limited in scope and availability, I’ll focus on the more complete Windows Speech Recognition tool in this story. There’s a new feature in the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update called Dictation that replicates WSR’s text-entry and text-editing functions but not its UI command capabilities.WSR takes dictation and carries out simple commands it doesn’t include Cortana’s advanced AI features. WSR is not directly connected to Cortana, the voice-activated virtual assistant built into Windows 10.Moreover, composition without the effort of typing eliminates a significant barrier between you and the final product, a barrier that you may have come to take for granted. But once you master it, you will find the process adds almost no effort to the overall task of composition. Deciding what you want to say and then saying it, instead of typing it, will seem unnatural at first. The company’s shares were worth about $2 in January, according to NBC News. The Camdenton High School dress code mandates that “hair must be combed, clean and well groomed.” The student handbook bans mohawk haircuts, but does not express a ban on mullets. I think I’m actually going to do it,” Sullens laughed. I noticed (Cayden) Shockley, (Spencer) Carlock, and (Brice) Babbs got it last night. “We’ve been talking about it the last couple of days. Three other members of the Camdenton offense showed up to practice with Camaro cuts and applied some peer pressure to their fellow senior. On the Wednesday before the quarterfinal against Kirkwood, senior linebacker/punter Chris Sullens was one of the few upperclassmen in the locker room wearing a “normal” haircut. “After a couple of people did it we all just kind of fell on the roll and brought back the mullet,” senior strong safety Justin Daughtrey said.ĭaughtrey took his mullet a step further by shaving several lines into the side of his head, somewhat disproving the mullet tradition of “business in the front.” Nicknamed “the Mongoose,” Daughtrey is fourth on the team in solo tackles with 35. More Lakers are taking clippers to the sides and fronts of their heads each week, especially the seniors. Their only loss was a 28-27 barn burner against Waynesville. The modern mullets of 2010 sport a record of 4-1 since homecoming. The Lakers won state titles in 19, appeared in the state semifinals in 19, and made the state quarterfinals in 1982, 1983, and 1984.Ĭamdenton also won 10 straight district titles from 1980-89. The 1980s were the winningest decade of Camdenton football history. Schmidt’s logic proves difficult to argue. “We decided that back in the 80s when (Camdenton) kept winning state that they all had mullets, so hopefully it would work out for us,” Schmidt said. Senior offensive tackle/defensive tackle Eli Schmidt was one of the first Lakers to go for the mullet on the week on the homecoming showdown with Joplin. The Oxford English Dictionary (the definite record of the English language) defines the mullet as, “A hairstyle, worn especially by men, in which the hair is cut short at the front and sides, and left long at the back.” The style, also referred to as the 10/90, Kentucky waterfall, or the hockey helmet, is a multi-functional haircut suitable for “business in the front,” or a “party in the back.” Prior to an early October game against Joplin, a few Camdenton players got mullet haircuts. With any road to success comes sacrifice, hard work and compromise - a “Missouri Compromise.” As they continue their football playoff quest, the Camdenton Lakers of 2010 hope to draw inspiration from great Camdenton teams of the past. I just wonder if this also works over a network and using more machines with GM/instances. That's why the trick Mike mentioned to start more instances working on the samen project (and skip existing tiles is working very well. The more processing power the better (so when can we add CUDA support. So what resolution is the 100 GB map and to what resolution/level do you want to process. How do you proces the file in GM? If you cross over the native resolution all generated detail is only taking valuable time. but it all depents on what level you want to tile to. Asking Mike to put in this TMS-support/ way of tiling, will bring 2 big projects together! Groeten Mart ()īigger is better. One can ask for support for these bigger files to be handled, but that meens one has to put a collection out of hands and that is not always possible. The problem with OS is that it seems like cursing if one mentions GM. GM can handle that super and one can add extra info on top of that. The problem with maptiler is that it can't handle big mosaics in ecw ( I'm talking about ecw's of over 100GB). Zoom in on this to see if what I said makes sense. So in a way, you could create a polygon with the boundary the tile that covers the whole area. Thinking about it, it seems once you are zoomed in enough, you could just export between a certain lat/long - which lat long would be the border between the tiles - ie what was 1 tile at zoom level 10, is 4 tiles at zoom level 11, 16 tiles at level 12 - the outer boundary being the same as the boundary of the tile at zoom level 10. I wouldnt mind generating the data with GM as it is quick, supports 64 bit, and it is much easier dealing with GM than geoserver in respect to how you manage data. I know that's how openstreetmap works (it re-renders where data has changed), and I think geoserver does something similar - but a solution like geoserver is, well a server and not a desktop app. Yeah, that's why I posted that - I was thinking the edge issue - Perhaps load your new data by itself and create a poly outline - add the catalog with all the data(with new data that replaces old) and re-render tiles that intersect the polygon. What I got instead with Companionlink was the most unreliable, temperamental, unpredictable piece of software known to man. I really really wanted this software to work since Google and Microsoft didn't want to play nice with each other and purposely left out a good way to sync with Outlook. Got a broadcast e-mail from them yesterday claiming that the new software was ready to go with better functionality and even sported a new name, now called Companionlink for Outlook. CompanionLink USB will sync Outlook with Android, and is $39.95. Let me clarify a few things:ĬompanionLink Pro is not necessarily required in your situation. It’s a little kludgey, but it’s better than being frozen out of syncing Outlook to an Android phone at all.Sorry to hear you're having trouble with CompanionLink. The information goes in both directions, because information synched back to Google from Android can then be synched to Outlook. Sync data between Outlook and Google with this software, and then use an Android phone’s normal capabilities to sync to Google–that way, Outlook information gets shuttled back and forth between the PC and the Android phone. With CompanionLink, they can use Google as an intermediary. The first time it synchronizes it may take ten minutes or more if you have a lot of contacts, but after that, synchronization happens much more quickly.Īndroid phone owners who use Outlook on their PCs will welcome CompanionLink for Google, because it solves a nagging problem: There is no way to directly synchronize Outlook and an Android phone. Give it your Google log-in information, tell it how you want synchronization performed (both ways or just one-way in either direction), and let CompanionLink for Google do its work. This desktop app synchronizes your contacts, calendars, to-dos, and more between Outlook and Google, and does it with ease. |
